Well here we go, first of four games against these assholes. By now even the people who didnt play for the Mammoths know how much we hate them and want to destroy them. So lets get this series started off on the right foot on thursday. We talk a lot of shit about them, but they do have a few guys who arent that bad. So we still need to be at our best.

as Max pointed out in the other post, I scouted these Wooly Mammoths on Thursday Night (6/18) when they played the Renegades. Now, as the whole team knows, or should know by now, these guys are terrible. The way the Foulds clan and myself talk about them, I think we can all agree that these guys are our Montreal Canadiens. Rivals.
I did have a few notes to point out about the Mammoths, simple things that will give us even more of an advantage then we already have.
1) they only have 1 decent line that can skate, and make threats in the offensive zone (O zone). however, if this line were to play on a very good team, they would be a 4th line easy. Those guys do make up 100% of the Mammoth offense.
2) one guy on that line (who wears a red helmet and rolelr hockey pants, very noticebale when you see him) loves to hang back behind our D when we are in the O zone. As soon as somone on his team gets the puck, he is already at center ice, sometimes further back. So D, make sure you DO NOT let this guy behind you. Now, im not saying that you have to stay back as well, but just be cautious as to where he is on the ice at all times, and make sure you can recover from being in the O zone to get back and break up anything that goes on.
3) These guys play extremely sloppy D. Everytime the Renegades had the punk in the O zone, the Mammoths D chase the puck around, thus leaving the slot area (space between the facoff circles) wide open. ALSO, we must utilize our D more when we are in the O zone against these guys. Thier wingers leave the D wide open, giving them ample time and plenty of room to move the puck around, create space, and take shots. FORWARDS, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR ANY DEFENSEMAN THAT IS OPEN. CREATE CHANCES AGAINST THESE GUYS.
Like I said, just a few things that I noticed and thought would help us. Not only to beat these guys, but to better help us as a team moving forward. Personally I think the last point is the most important. We are not using our D as much as we should while in the O zone. Lets start. Move the puck around more in the zone and get some space between guys to create open shots. Let our D be more involved in the zone.
**One last important thing to point out. Forwards, whether it be wingers, or the centers, we need to start to cover for any of our D that rush the puck, or bring it into the O zone. What should really be happening, is the winger on that side of the ice should back off and play the point until that D man comes back to where he should be. At times we only have 1 defeseman at the blue line and thats not good. ALSO, forwards must back check more. Pick up someone going back into our defensive zone. to many odd man rushes thus far in the season. As long as you stick with someone, then chances are they arent going to get a pass tossed thier way.
Lets try to play better in our D zone guys, granted we did last game, but lets step it up and get better each game.

First, that was a pretty good write up. I should prob take a look at this thing more often but anyways. Seans right, the more we use our D the more open ice were going to create. But that doesn't mean as soon as the d gets the puck they fire it on net, if u have a good shot let it go hope for a rebound or a nice screen but if you have a second look for a play, the last thing we need is a weak shot that gets blocked and turned over. And 2nd like Sean said if your gonna skate in give someone a heads up and let them cover for u. Communicate on the bench. And lastly, Firmani, you have enough speed to truck through theses d men and enough energy to get back and recover better then most ppl use that to your advantage more. Your skating slow through the neutral zone looking for a pass, just get the puck on the zone and have someone hang back for you.

great points with by both of you. See now this is why I created this thing. Now if we could only get everyone in involved it would work a lot better. The only question I have is with the first 2 lines. Do we put Joey with Max and Justin? Or do we put Joey with Sean and split me and Mark up?

yesterday mark, max and myself agreed to put Joey back on his line with Justin, and keep Max there. Keep my line of Mark and Donny together. However, Donny you might have a good point. I was thinking start the line of Mark (RW) Justin (C) and Max (LW) and move my cousin to play with us. Donny at RW, me at C, and Joey at LW. Keep the Demasi bros. and Tony together.
What does everyone else think? re-shuffle the lines, or just restore Joey to his natural spot with Justin?

That might be a good idea. Gives you a chance to work and see what you and your cousin can do together and puts me and max together, which never happens. I wouldn't mind trying it out.

Firmani is right. Kevin won't be there next week against JAFHT. So we'll have to make some changes.
Excellent performance last night ladies and gentlemen. Things are starting to click, and the past 2 games the D has been solid in front of Joe. Thats all I can say about last nights game, excellent performance. We beat them in every aspect of the game last night. Stellar.
Also, Mark or Donny, can you guys update the recrods section on the website? Im sure Justin would like credit for the most penalty minutes in one game haha.
Lets keep things going next week against those JAFHT clowns.

round 2 big game. we win this game and we move all the way up to 3rd place. we played our best game of the season last night, and a huge part of that was that we stayed out of the penalty box. If we play like we did last night the Mammoths have no chance. There wasnt anyone who played a bad game last night. Lets keep this momentum going and make it 2 in a row!
